Occupational Therapy

The focus of occupational therapy is to help the brain and body work together to improve one’s performance in meaningful activities.  Whether it’s play or school for children, or work and social interactions for adults, these are the meaningful activities through which humans continue to grow and develop. Strong foundational skills, such as effective sensory processing, visual skills, auditory processing skills, fine motor and gross motor skills, a functional attention span and appropriate arousal levels are important prerequisites for success.

Occupational therapy sessions with our office, are designed to provide client-centered therapeutic interventions, in a fun environment.

Sensory Integration Therapy

Sensory Integration Therapy is a specialized area of occupational therapy that places emphasis on the ability to process, organize, and respond appropriately to sensory input.  Sensory-rich therapy sessions that incorporate play using swings, exercise balls, and other specialized equipment, allow the therapist to address each client’s specific sensory needs.  The client’s response to the sensory stimulation helps the nervous system to process and integrate the information in a more organized and meaningful way.  Over time, sensory responses become more functional, leading to successful interactions with the environment and other people.

Listening Therapy

Listening therapy is a sound-based intervention that is frequently used in conjunction with occupational therapy treatment.  Listening therapy utilizes specialized music in a home-based program to help amplify the outcomes of sensory-based occupational therapy treatment.  Listening therapy is designed to help sensory modulation difficulties, postural control, attention, and behavior.
